FAQ
What is Fourth Horseman Press?
Fourth Horseman Press is an independent publisher committed to producing literary provocations that offer fresh, bold perspectives and stick with you long after you've closed the book. Being independent means we can take creative risks and publish works that challenge conventions without compromise.
What Genres do you publish?
We curate a catalog that delivers original literature unmatched in the mainstream marketplace, focusing on titles that push boundaries and challenge conventional narratives. We specialize in volumes of genre-blurring slipstream fiction, insightful cultural critique, and critical editions of the classics.
How do you choose what to publish?
We seek out exceptional authors with unique voices. Sometimes that's established authors pushing into new territory, sometimes it's debut writers who've been waiting for the right publisher to take a chance on them. Our selection is driven by a commitment to originality, diversity, and introducing readers to writing they won’t find anywhere else.
How can I submit a manuscript?
We accept submissions only during announced reading periods. We do not accept unsolicited manuscripts. We welcome submissions from authors worldwide, provided the manuscript is in English. Keep an eye on our website and social media for announcements, and always check our submission guidelines first.
Do you charge fees?
Fourth Horseman Press will never charge submission or publishing fees. We operate on a traditional contract basis.
Where can I purchase your books?
You can find our books through most major online retailers. We prefer that you order your books directly from our website, however, as purchases made here provide the greatest support for us, our authors, and our charities, keeping us weird and independent.
Do you offer review copies?
Yes! We welcome the opportunity to share our books with reviewers, bloggers, bookstagrammers, and anyone else who wants to spread the word about great literature. Just reach out through our contact form and tell us a bit about yourself, your platform, and which title has caught your eye.
you have a podcast?
Host Adam Chamberlain sits down with our authors to talk about their books, their creative process, and the big ideas that inspire their work. It's a chance to delve deeper into the minds behind our literary provocations and explore themes that matter to contemporary writers. Listen on our website or wherever you get your podcasts.
