QUOTE: "My name is Bart Allen. (Stop me if you've heard this one before...) I'm the fastest man alive. Actually, forget that. I'm the fastest man who ever was alive." —The Flash

SUMMARY: Robin contacts the Flash with an invitation; the young hero wants his friend to go back to being a member of the Teen Titans. Before the fastest man alive can seriously consider the offer, however, he must take down an upstart supervillain who has taken on his former moniker: Impulse. The battle is short lived but the damage done reveals an even more dangerous mystery. Beneath the streets of Los Angeles the Flash discovers a piece of Apokolipsian technology! Stowing the strange device at the Los Angeles Police Academy for later study, Bart picks up Valerie Perez for a date in Keystone City. The evening ends in a heated argument over Bart's life as a superhero with a secret identity. Their relationship, it seems, is over. Returning to L.A., the Flash must face a far superior foe when the New God Steppenwolf comes seeking the Apokolipsian device that was left on Earth!
