QUOTE: "This will be the day I'm remembered for—and the legend of the Flash is forgotten!" —The Griffin

SUMMARY: Jay Garrick finds himself a prisoner of the demented Griffin, and he's nearly killed in a desperate escape attempt. Bart Allen arrives just in time to save his forerunner's life. The Griffin gets away, however, foolishly determined to earn the worship of Keystone's citizens. Thus, he sets out to destroy the Van Buren Bridge that connects Keystone City and Central City, hoping the endangered men and women he'll rescue from the resulting disaster will then view him as a savior! Fortunately, the Flash is there to counteract the Griffin's every move at super speed. The fastest man alive succeeds in saving lives, even sparing his foe from being crushed by the bridge's rubble. The Griffin, a victim of his own uncontrollable superpowers, dies knowing what it takes to be a true hero.
