SUMMARY: Reluctantly wearing the costume of the scarlet speedster, Bart Allen races to save Valerie Perez from an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs. After the dramatic rescue, however, Bart remains steadfast in his refusal to accept the mantle of the fastest man alive. He wants only to be rid of his unstable connection to the speed force. Valerie confesses that this isn't the first time her life has been saved by the young speedster; she was once rescued by Kid Flash, and she's been smitten with Bart ever since. Meanwhile, Griffen Grey is growing anxious to use his newfound abilities. Donning a dark costume and dubbing himself the Griffin, Grey takes to the streets in an effort to undermine Jay Garrick and save Keystone City from its persistent serial bomber. Unfortunately, the Griffin is inexperienced and impulsive enough to cost more lives than he might save!
