QUOTE: "You came back from it, Bart. You're the only one who could have. And you're right to be afraid. The speed force wants to reclaim you—pull you under like a shark that's tasted blood. You're fast, Bart. Faster than all of us put together. But not fast enough. You're a lightning rod." —Wally West

SUMMARY: In the wake of an explosion at Keystone Motors, Bart Allen admits to Jay Garrick that he has remained connected to the speed force throughout the past year. The lies he's told to his friends, family, and to himself are indicative of his state of denial. Bart no longer wants to be a speedster. Jay encourages Bart to visit Tina McGee, the one woman who might be able to stabilize the young man's erratic powers, at S.T.A.R. Labs. Bart refuses; he is desperate to lead a normal life. Bart's careless companion Griffen Grey, meanwhile, is discovering some startling abilities whilst recuperating from the electrocution he suffered in the Keystone Motors attack. It appears as if Griffen's been gifted with superpowers of his own. Desperate to be free of his connection to the unpredictable speed force, Bart turns to Valerie Perez at S.T.A.R. Labs and soon learns that the high-tech research facility is the second target of Keystone's mad bomber. With lives on the line, Bart has no choice but to don the costume that's been entrusted to him. No choices remain, only destiny. Bart Allen is the Flash!
