QUOTE: "Either I own the speed force... or it owns me." —Bart Allen

SUMMARY: The speed force is gone. Wally West and his family have vanished, presumably into the extra-dimensional well of energy before its mysterious collapse. Now only Jay Garrick patrols the streets of Keystone City as the Flash. Meanwhile, Bart Allensuddenly and unexpectedly aged several yearstries to move on with his life. Unwilling to explore the failure of his powers, the twentysomething spends most of his time with his carefree friend Griffin, working days on the Keystone Motors factory floor and partying nights at the local bars and clubs. The lifestyle proves unfulfilling to a young man who has spent most of his life as a superhero. Nevertheless, still haunted by the loss of his mentor and forerunner, the former Kid Flash remains resolute in his refusal to attempt regaining his powers, even when he's visited by Valerie Perez, a beautiful young S.T.A.R. Labs intern preoccupied with Bart's unique situation. A deadly explosion at Keystone Motors may force Bart to reconsider these choices and his connection to the legacy of the fastest man alive.
