SUMMARY: On the day that a young Hunter Zolomon was to leave
for college, his father murdered his mother before being shot and killed
by police. The traumatic incident and the many questions it prompted
inspired Zolomon to train himself as a psychological profiler. At George
Mason University, Zolomon fell in love with Ashley Fox, his future wife,
and met her father, one of the FBI's foremost experts on metahuman
psychology. The well-trained trio went on to work closely together at
the Bureau, until the fateful and tragic day when Derek Fox was killed
in the line of duty as a result of a flawed criminal profile from
Zolomon. After losing his wife and leaving the FBI, Hunter moved to
Keystone City, where he became acquainted with Wally West. Now,
after attempting to use the Cosmic Treadmill to alter his tragic
personal history, the paralyzed Hunter Zolomon finds himself hospitalized once again.
The former
profiler has survived an extraordinary explosion to discover that he can
walk again! What's more, he soon realizes that the environment around
him seems to be at a standstill; Zolomon is moving with superhuman
speed. With a renewed sense of purpose and determination, obsessed with
the idea that he can improve the Flash as a superhero through personal
tragedy, Zolomon dons the iconic costume he feels he was destined to
inherit. Hunter Zolomon is now Zoom, the Reverse-Flash, and he intends
to show the scarlet speedster true tragedy!
