QUOTE: "You're here to remind them. To be their champion, their hero... While the real Flash becomes some pathetic, forgotten figure swept into the dustbin of history. Well, I'll show them! Trust me, Wally--I will be remembered. Starting today... Barry Allen will be forever remembered as the man who destroyed an ungrateful city!" —Barry Allen

SUMMARY: Putting aside his concerns regarding his mentor's recent behavior, Wally West teams with Barry Allen to investigate a lead regarding the headquarters of the mysterious Combine. The high-tech and highly organized gang is prepared for their interference, however, and the two scarlet speedsters soon find themselves in a diabolical death trap, caught in a collapsing force field! Barry uses his uncanny ability to vibrate his molecules to escape but then, watching as Wally struggles to break free, brazenly declares that he intends to leave his former sidekick to die! Barry is furious, believing his image and memory to have been hijacked and tainted by his successor in the years since his apparent death, and he intends to take his revenge on Wally and the twin cities! Elsewhere, having anticipated such a nightmarish turn of events, Jay Garrick begins to prepare for the worst by rounding up two of the fastest speedsters who ever lived--Johnny Quick and Max Mercury.
