QUOTE: "He's got two things going for him. The ring says he's telling the truth... and so do I. I understand your hesitation, Wally. Superheroes live in a world of shape-shifters and mind-benders. Our enemies would stoop lower than this to torment us. But Barry Allen was my best friend. I knew him at least as well as you did, and I tell you in all honesty... he's for real." —Hal Jordan

SUMMARY: Barry Allen is back! Though Wally West can't seem to bring himself to believe it, his mentor and forerunner has seemingly returned from the dead! And it isn't long before the partners are leaping into action together again. When Piper passes on news that a hit squad has been dispatched to assassinate mob leader "Handsome Jack" Giacomo, the two Flashes race to the Central City amusement park where Giacomo spends each New Year's Eve. If the scarlet speedsters can save the mob boss they'll prevent an all-out gang war in the process. It's not Barry Allen's familiar superheroics that convince Wally of his identity, however, but the sudden reverence for Iris Allen prompted by the sight of the Ferris wheel where the hero once proposed to his lost wife.
